Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute sits directly across from 16th Street Baptist Church in the Civil Rights District, one of the most historically significant blocks in American history. The institute's permanent collection spans the Jim Crow era through the movement's pivotal Birmingham Campaign of 1963, with multimedia exhibits, original artifacts, and a research archive. It is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from 1pm to 5pm.
Group tours are available with advance reservation through the institute's education department. Charter buses and motorcoaches have access to nearby surface parking along 16th Street North and the adjacent city lots — confirm current group arrival logistics with the institute before your visit.
